Q. What should I bring?
- The most important things to bring are an open mind and a desire to move your body! Aside from that, we recommend that you bring:
- A big bottle of drinking water to help keep yourself properly hydrated.
- A hand towel to dry off if you tend to sweat when exercising. (Don’t worry — there are a lot of smiling, sweaty folks at the end of every dance.)
- Payment of $15.00 to $20.00:
- Cash (for in-person dances only)
- Venmo (https://venmo.com/u/EcstaticMary)
- Zelle (EcstaticMary@gmail.com)
- PayPal (EcstaticMary@gmail.com)
Q. What should I wear?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows for maximum freedom of movement. We recommend that you dance barefoot on the smooth and springy hardwood floor. But you may wear shoes (non-scuff only) if you need to. The important thing to remember is to wear what’s comfortable for you.
(Note about dance attire: all dancers are required to wear a shirt or top.)
Q. What dance experience is required?
Absolutely none! Ecstatic Dance Seattle has no instruction, no steps to follow, and no right or wrong way to dance. It’s all about moving your body in whatever way is right for you. Many first time dancers report finding a new sense of freedom of movement in this safe and accepting dance environment. Click here to read Testimonials.
Q. Do I have to dance with other people?
No, you don’t. Some people do dance together at times, but there is no expectation one way or the other. At times you may find yourself dancing near the perimeter of the room with your eyes closed. At other times you may enjoy moving around the room, connecting with other dancers. The event is a wonderful blend of people dancing by themselves and people dancing together, changing from moment to moment.
